GCBC Comp November 2011

The comp was on this morning for the bodyboard club at Duranbah beach.  The conditions were pretty bad with the light being quite dim from the overcast conditions.  I shot the go pro from water but I had inadvertently left the polarising filter in the housing which pretty much stuffed most of my water footage.

First Time Lapse with Go Pro

I have been doing some research into how to do a time-lapse with the Go Pro HD2.

I attached the suction cup to the back window of the cart and went for a 30 minute drive.

This video came out much better then I thought it would.  The editing process is extremely easy and it all went so smoothly.

I can see a lot more time lapses in my future……

Sevensie is in the house…

The release of single, ‘Good Thing’ heralds a new era for Gold Coast emcee Seven. With renewed vigour he unveils sevensies.com, a website designed to bring fans and the unfamiliar to his music in the most simple way possible. ‘Good Thing’, featuring long time collaborators Mr. Hill and talk-of-the-town producer Cam Bluff is the first track leaked to the masses from the forthcoming Summer 2012 release ‘Floated’. Sevensies.com will be home to all foreseeable musical endeavours, available for free digital consumption to the public. This direction is without quam or concern; he merely aims to present his stories and often jovial views on the world to as many people as possible.
Buoyed with the response from 2010 JJJ Unearthed competition win and numerous support slots for veritable music legends, Seven launches headlong into ‘Floated’. With Tour Dates slated for March 2012, ‘Floated’ will hit the road with full force.

Another Go Pro vid

I took it out again today and this time I did some hand held stuff and then attached it to my board.  As you can see from the video I probably mounted it too far back.

The Go Pro has landed at SurfPhotos.

I have taken delivery of my new Go Pro V2.  I had previously tried the original Go Pro but gave up on it due to the constant fogging issues.  I had been assured that all issues had been sorted on this model so I emptied my wallet into the internet and 2 days later I had a new Go Pro from SportsCamera.com.au.   I got the Grenade Grip to go with it as well as the locally made Single Pin BB Camera Mount for mounting on a bodyboard.

I took the Grenade Grip (which floats) and the cam out this morning.  The surf was pretty shite but at least the sun was out and the water is starting to warm up.

The modifications made to the cam are great.  I especially like the ability to see the recording light on all sides.  Fogging is not an issue any more which on its own is a good reason for me to keep this camera.  The image quality is amazing.  I inserted a freeze frame in the video below to show how good that is.  I haven’t shot stills with it yet but I am looking forward to doing that.  I mean 11 frames a second…  woot…

The video I shot this morning was set at 720 – 50p and edited in FCP7

2nd half of the review will continue tomorrow
