Welcome to SurfPhotos Weekend Surf Forecast.
Here is a forecast of the likely surf conditions we can expect for this weekend (June 5th/6th).
Saturday: Combination of E/SE and S/SE swells around 1-2ft, building slightly to 2ft/2ft+ at south facing beaches during the afternoon. Moderate SW winds, tending more SW/S during the afternoon.
Sunday: Combination of smaller E/SE and S/SE swells in the 2ft/2ft+ class with the upper end of this size range at south facing beaches. Remote chance of some better quality E/NE similar sized (2ft) inconsistent groundswell sets very late in the afternoon on Sunday. Moderate SW winds, tending moderate (possibly fresh during the afternoon) S’ly during the day.
Weekend Forecast A few combinations of swells on offer this weekend. Unfortunately most of the action will be further south than us, with the axis of a deepening low in the Tasman well south of the border. There’s a secondary low which forms to the SW of New Caledonia on Friday and rapidly tracks southwards to combine with the Tasman low over the weekend, and there’s an outside chance we may see some forerunners from this low very late on Sunday afternoon, but it’s more than likely to arrive overnight on Sunday and into Monday.
So back to Saturday and we’re looking at low levels of average quality E/SE and S/SE swells, with the S/SE swell building into the afternoon slightly at south facing beaches. Sunday sees the small E/SE swell waning and being replaced by a slightly building, better quality S/SE swell from the Tasman low as it moves further offshore during the weekend. We may also see some building better aligned SE swell late on Sunday from this system, with possibly the odd stray 3ft set come dusk on Sunday. The above forecast (including winds) is highly dependent on the current forecasted positioning and deepening of the Tasman low over the weekend and thus it’s a tough call for an accurate forecast currently (Thursday night) for swell and wind conditions come Sunday afternoon.
